The Green Stars Project is all about ethical consumerism – it’s a rating system for social and environmental impact. The goal is to make ethical consumerism democratic by allowing everyone to voice their opinion. It’s essentially a grassroots activism movement to address corporate misbehavior, recognize ethical businesses, and tackle social and environmental problems through individual action.
What does this entail, exactly? It’s simple: Just include an ethical score (on a scale of 0-5 Green Stars) whenever you review a product or business online. The goal is to have ethical scores for products and businesses on the sites that we already use, from online retailers (even Amazon!) to guides such as Yelp, Google Maps, etc. Join in and win a prize – right now you can win a subscription to Ethical Consumer!

Green Stars = Democratic Ethical Ratings

Ethical consumerism
Ethical consumerism is one of the most important actions that we can take to make this world a better place. From inequality to climate change, we’re facing some serious social and environmental challenges. The rise of political systems that embrace corporate hegemony and erode societal and environmental protections has not helped our situation.
Many of our problems, from habitat destruction to modern slavery, are rooted in corporate misbehavior. The only dependable way to make corporations responsible is via their bottom lines of sales and profit. Ethical consumerism is the most effective way to make that happen. Below, you’ll find a few articles to help you get started. Also check out my other site, Ethical Bargains, which focuses on ethical ratings for new items that I’ve purchased at the Grocery Outlet!
