Republican Voters Against Trump (RVAT) was launched in May 2020 with the goal of gathering testimonials from Republicans who will not vote for Trump in the 2020 election. Many of them voted for Trump in 2016 and clearly see that as a mistake now, in retrospect. Some avoided Trump in 2016 by voting for a third party (instead of Hillary) and say that this isn’t good enough for 2020 – they will vote for Biden to make sure that Trump doesn’t win.
I’ve assembled quotes from their site and mapped them to the states where each of the voters lives. The goal, besides providing a different format to view these testimonials (you can see their videos on RVAT.org) is to show a different picture to that painted by Donald Trump. The country is not divided along clean lines, as Trump would have us believe. The “Republican” states contain many voters who see Trump’s election in 2016 as a mistake – his critics are not confined to the “Democrat” states that Trump disrespects and threatens to defund (California, New York, Oregon, etc.).

Because adding Hawaii makes the map a little too zoomed out I’ve added the Hawaii quote separately here:
“Trump’s actions are indicative of a man simply ignorant of honor and true sacrifice.”– Charles Djou, Hawaii
Djou is a Republican who served as the U.S. Representative for Hawaii’s 1st congressional district in 2010–11 and is a lieutenant colonel in the United States Army Reserve.
Similarly, for Alaska, I’m going to quote Republican US Senator, Lisa Murkowski. In Oct 2016 she tweeted: “I cannot and will not support Donald Trump for president. He has forfeited the right to be our party’s nominee.” Asked if she will support Trump, Murkowski said, “I am struggling with it. I have struggled with it for a long time.”
Let’s hope that Murkowski and all who read this will vote according to their consciences.
Here’s a recent RVAT video from a republican, explaining why he will vote for Biden:
Here’s another one that’s saltier but heartfelt:
Finally, here’s an ad from RVAT that uses the words of South Carolina senator, Lindsey Graham, who was strongly opposed to Trump in 2016 and then in 2017 did an about-face and became one of Trump’s closest allies.
Here are a few more resources for Republicans deciding to vote for Biden in 2020:
