This site is the main home and information source for the Green Stars Project. The main role of this site is to increase awareness of ethical consumerism issues so that we can eliminate corporate practices that are detrimental to our planet and society. The goal is to encourage you, dear reader, to include a green star rating whenever you write a review of a product or company online. So, what is a Green Stars rating, exactly? The rating should consider the social and environmental impact of whatever you are reviewing. It can be posted on any public site.

The best way to do this is to change the way we review things, and I strongly believe that this seemingly small change will be revolutionary. My #1 goal is to encourage you to consider the social and environmental impact of the products and services you purchase by rating them on a scale of 1 to 5 Green Stars. The reviews should be posted on any website that you normally use (Amazon, Yelp, Google, TripAdvisor, etc.) so that the green star rating will be visible alongside the conventional gold star rating. ( ***** = quality and price ; ***** = social and environmental impact).

The Green Stars Project (GSP) is a simple idea for dealing with unethical corporate practices by impacting companies at their most sensitive point: revenue.
The key is to post your reviews on commercial sites such as those listed above so that they reach the widest possible audience. (If you do write a review, please let me know by leaving a message, comment below, or send me an email: jmskrb at gmail).
Once the idea gains traction I will being contacting internet retailers (like Amazon) and review sites (like Yelp) to formally instate a Green Star rating scale.
The GSP is non-profit: the only goal is that we evolve.

My summer resolution is to write at least 5 Green Star Reviews. It’s one of those things i keep meaning to do and keep forgetting. I’m writing my resolution here so my brains remembers next time!!!!

I hope to find some good reviews here. I have chemical sensitivities – neurotoxic reactions to the chemicals being used to process or treat clothing. There are very few clothing items that are “safe,” and labeling is frequently misleading. 100% cotton doesn’t tell you that they sewed it together with rubber thread or sprayed it with insecticide and antifugal agents before shipping – all severely poisonous to me.

One of my readers does a lot of recycling( clothing) herself she will be doing a guest post for me at some point which will be interesting… I loved the textile one as I didn’t realise about the thread etc so I will be researching that but probably after xmas now as I am quite busy …Look forward to reading your post 🙂
